Anglia Irish St. Patrick's Day Cup Winners!

For the first time ever, on Sunday 22nd March, Anglia Irish Walking Football teams participated in a Walking Football tournament. 

Hosted by London Irish WF Club at the home of Rayners Lane FC.

Although we entered a team in both the 50s and 60s age groups, on this occasion, only one of our players was under 60, while four were over 70.

There were four teams in each age group who played on a round-robin basis and then a semi and a final.

On the day, all teams played five games of twenty minutes each.

Our 50s, with an average age of 63, won two games (one v nil), lost two (nil v one) and drew one (nil v nil).

Our 60s, with an average age of 66, lost one game (one v nil), won three (two v nil) and went on and WON the final, on penalties.

The benchmark for future competitions is set! 

We all look forward to our next adventure in May, at the Milton Keynes Irish tournament.
